Here are some frequently asked questions you may ask yourself when considering joining our unit.
What are the age requirments to join 1st KP GD?
Participants must be at least 12 years of age and hold a valid Hunting Safety Card, as required by Northwoods rules and regulations.
Is there a membership cost?
There are no unit dues. However, members are required to register with Northwoods, as we are chartered under their organization for insurance purposes.
What timeline in the Second World War do we portray?
We represent the Großdeutschland Division as it appeared in the mid- to late-war years, specifically from 1943 to 1945.
How many events does the unit attend each year?
We generally attend 5–7 events each year, with the exact number depending on how events are scheduled for the upcoming year.
How quickly do new members need to be squared away?
We are generally very flexible with our unit members when it comes to acquiring gear. As long as we can see that you are making an effort to build your impression, that is what matters most to us. We also offer loaner equipment when needed for events.
Can awards and ranks from other units be transferred?
Possibly. We have a selective awards and rank system in place; therefore, we are willing to work with you to determine what is appropriate to keep and what is not.
Can I drink?
Moderate alcohol consumption is allowed. Excessive consumption is not permitted and will result in termination from the unit. We take pride in representing our unit professionally and do not believe heavy drinking benefits anyone.
Can I smoke?
Cigars and tobacco pipes are allowed. Cigarette smoking is strongly discouraged.
